Smoky Mountain Self-Defense is excited to announce the co-branding of our newest entity: Smoky Mountain Submission Wrestling.
SMSW will incorporate a realistic and effective focus to wrestling and other familiar grappling arts by pulling the most dominating techniques from Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco Roman wrestling, as well as re-introducing the oldest form of wrestling in America know as “Catch Wrestling” to our community. This Grappling course will be available to both male and females ages 13 and up. This is a perfect opportunity for our local middle and high school wrestlers to take their skill sets to the next level of dominance, as well as offering those individuals who are evolving away from wearing GI’s or training at sport BBJ or more traditional facilities; a refreshing and overdue option to grow. This SMSW Program will operate under the name of Catch Wrestling, and be coached by Matt Carpenter. Coach Carpenter comes to heading the Catch Wrestling Program at SMSW with an extensive and recognized background in Folkstyle, FreeStyle, and Greco Roman wrestling; as both a competitor and coach while growing up in rural Indiana where he met his wife Tiffany and they have three children ages 3, 14, and 15.Coach Carpenter also has an accomplished Brazilian Jui-Jitsu background as well as a working knowledge of coaching and applying the full range of Catch Wrestling “no holds barred” curriculum.Class times are scheduled for:
